POLICE have stepped up the search for a gold prospector, who has been missing in the West Australian outback since Saturday.
The man was last seen by friends heading into bushland about 7km south of Menzies, about 130km north of Kalgoorlie, at about 3pm on Saturday.
He was reported missing to police later in the evening after he failed to return.
Leonora police conducted a search of the area last night, and were joined by police officers from Kalgoorlie who searched through the night with no success.
An aerial search on Sunday still had not located the man, so a command post has been set up and more WA police resources from Kalgoorlie were headed to the search site.
SES volunteers from Kalgoorlie and Perth area are also being drafted into the search.
